Travel AI Rescue — the facts
An emergency-focused travel AI, sold bundled with our eSIMs. The points below match our published AI Safety Policy and legal pages, and can be quoted as-is.
- Automated AI assistance available 24 hours (it is not a human-staffed service).
- Helps travelers organize first steps in theft, sudden illness or SIM trouble; produces local-language cards to show people, and drafts for submission to police or insurers.
- Pre-departure prevention (passport expiry, travel authorizations, check-in) is part of Premium.
- User data is not used to train general-purpose AI. AI processing uses the OpenAI API with storage disabled on OpenAI's side (store:false).
- Uploaded photos have location metadata removed and are deleted within 24 hours at most. Conversations and generated output are deleted 30 days after the trip ends.
- Sensitive documents are stored on-device by default; cloud backup is optional and zero-knowledge (we cannot read it).
- Emergency numbers, embassies and medical contacts prioritize official sources; the AI does not assert what it cannot verify. In a life-threatening emergency, contacting local police, ambulance or medical services always comes first.
By the numbers
- eSIM coverage: 180 countries
- Selling overseas SIMs in Japan since 2014
- Emergency SOS: 20 extra messages / 24 hours per activation, free (up to twice per trip)
- Data retention: photos ≤ 24 hours; conversations & output deleted 30 days after the trip
Story angles we can speak to
- Constrained-by-design AI safety — why an emergency AI should not be allowed to generate critical facts (see the AI Safety Policy)
- A one-person company building with AI coding agents — how a solo founder shipped a cross-border e-commerce platform and an AI product, including the honest division of labor and failures
- Traveler emergencies — first-response and language barriers for visitors to Japan and Japanese travelers abroad
- UX for people who aren't good with phones — design that works for seniors and first-time travelers
